Weiss Asset Management Foundation Donates over $665,000 to MANA, Supports International Rescue Committee Efforts to Treat Acute Malnutrition

BOSTON, MA— Weiss Asset Management Foundation announced a grant of over $665,000 to MANA Nutritive Aid Products Incorporated (MANA) in support of efforts to reduce acute malnutrition in several high-need regions in Africa. The donation, totaling $665,437.50, will fund 15,750 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic food (“RUTF”) for the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) humanitarian projects in high-need regions.

Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) affects approximately 19 million children under the age of 5 and is estimated to account for 400,000 child deaths globally each year. This grant will fund the direct distribution of RUTF as part of IRC’s nutrition programs, providing protein rich foods and restoring the health of children suffering from acute malnutrition.
