Weiss Asset Management Foundation Announces More Than $15 Million in Grants to Reduce Suffering Globally

BOSTON, MA—Weiss Asset Management Foundation is thrilled to announce the results of our first Request for Proposals, which yielded $15.1 million in support for projects that deliver evidence-based solutions to alleviate human suffering worldwide. This initiative underscores WAM Foundation’s commitment to strategic, high-impact philanthropy. This initial grant round attracted more than 100 applications. Our team rigorously evaluated each proposal, incorporating peer reviews by leading experts. Finalists were selected by an Allocation Committee chaired by 2019 Nobel Laureate Michael Kremer. The 17 awards, ranging from $275,000 to $1.5 million, represent a diverse range of initiatives in global health, nutrition, and disaster resilience, exemplifying WAM Foundation’s commitment to identifying high-impact opportunities to alleviate human suffering.

"Our selection process is designed to support underfunded initiatives that maximize the impact our grants have on reducing suffering," said Harlan Downs-Tepper, Program Director of WAM Foundation. “We are proud to support great partners improving lives across more than a dozen countries.”
